This is the first moment in the misbegotten Broadway musical King Kong that really connects, and it is not the last. The titular creation, designed by Sonny Tilders, is truly impressive: a 20-foot.
Twelve years and hundreds of designs of an overgrown silverback gorilla later, the musical adaptation of the 1933 film classic strikes the Great White Way at the Broadway Theatre. Unlike the puppets of Broadway’s War Horse or The Lion King, King Kong is a 2,000-pound, two-story-tall marionette. FLIP THROUGH NEW PHOTOS OF KING KONG ON BROADWAY.
But it’s in King Kong, which opened Thursday at the Broadway Theatre—one of Broadway’s biggest houses—that Tilders and his collaborators have been able to see the culmination of a years-in.
As King Kong is pretty much as NYC as you can get it felt like a must on my Broadway binge trip this July. It won the Tony awards but had a lower rating on TodayTix app. The musical was a good show with some great sets and very nice vocals. Sadly the songs were not at all.
King Kong is a beautifully produced show on Broadway. It follows the fictional story of Ann, an actress trying to make it big, and King Kong, a forbidden creature found on the hidden Skull Island. The story is interesting enough to keep viewers watching, but there are certain parts of the show that were unnecessary and are essentially filler. The show’s music left something to be desired.
A fearless young actor finds her big break thanks to a fast-talking filmmaker who promises to make her the star of his next big adventure movie. The two set sail to the mysterious Skull Island.
Broadway brings King Kong to the stage. The show was entertaining and an experience. King Kong received applause for the awesome 14 puppeteers that bring him to life onstage. The scenery was outstanding as Kong traveled through NYC and as the actors traveled to Skull Island. The play itself was alright. The talent was great, but the show's plot and the songs carried through slowly. See this.

The play had a bit of a twist from what the original storyline was so with that I didn't care for it in that respect but I love King Kong and how the mechanical ingenuity it presented. It really was hard to watch the show because it was so cold. it was very realistic with the sound effects so it made the theater shake and it was loud and a great lighting show that gave it a 3-D effect in parts.

The Lion King is an outstanding creative and emotional musical and will no doubt remain the King of the West End for many years to come. As Disney Theatricals continue to grow their stock and with a Broadway production of 'Frozen' on the horizon, I hope the show isn't taken for granted, as theatre practitioners the world over can learn from Taymor's alchemy.
